CHEM 361 - Biochemistry I

A study of the basic principles of the chemistry of living organisms. Topics presented include the structure, properties, and functions of carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids, and proteins; an introduction to bioenergetics; enzyme kinetics and mechanisms; and carbohydrate, lipid, and energy metabolism. Four hours of lecture each week. Lab Fee: 3 ($20).
Prerequisite(s): Completion of CHEM 312 and BIOL 151 with a grade of C- or higher or consent of instructor.
